:Course Objective

 

1-      How To Understand the seismic process, interpret seismic sections, develop a geologic model, and prepare maps

2-      Relate the subsurface stratigraphy to well data

3-      Identify different structural styles from seismic data

4-      Create a basic stratigraphic framework using seismic stratigraphy

 

Who should attend?

 

Geologists, geophysicists, workers in geology department and engineers who want to use seismic data for petroleum exploration and/or production. Familiarity with geological terminology will be helpful.

Day 1:

 

1-    Fundamentals of wave propagation and elastic properties of soils

 

  • Seismic waves
  • Seismic waves velocities
  • Lateral versus vertical velocity changes
  • Source-geophone arrays
  • Estimation of shear wave velocity
  • Estimation of rock density ()
  • Estimation of petro physical parameters
  • Calculation of foundation material indices

  • Parameters result from the collected geoseismic cross sections and areal distribution maps of these parameters
  • Parameters result from equations and areal distribution maps of some of these parameters
